So far the first post on this blog, let me start by saying last week I wrote a total of 6215 words toward the current project. This brings us roughly to about 25,000 words. That’s roughly 25%(+/-5%) towards the goal of 100,000 words And they’re all due by the end of August.
Baring in mind that most people who come to the blog in the future will not be scrolling back to read this post, I’m not going to bother with a heavy introduction of whom and what I am. If you’re here to read this first post you already know who I am. If you’ve actually gone through my archives to read this, then you either know by now or you will know as you read through what’s coming after this one.
That said, moving forward.
As I said above, the current goal is to have a 100K word novel completed by August 31st with its first draft. This is a novel I’ve been working on since March of this year and it’s taken me until the last month to get my keister in gear. With around 75,000 to go, I’ve got my work cut out for me. This story, like many you’ll find of mine, is a Sci-Fi novel that aims for a more casual audience. It could pretend to be mil-spec but it’s really more of a sport story. More details as the project unfolds. My goals for the project are
1) Complete draft by August 31st
2) Complete 1st edit by October 31st (story, plot, and additional writing edit)
3) Complete 2nd edit by December 31st (story, plot, additional writing, and grammar clean up)
4) Submit the 3rd edit to an editor as well as share the stories with readers to get a grasp on how it feels and sounds by January 31st
5) Start shopping it around to Agents and publishers by February 1st.
In the mean time, once I’m in 2nd phase editing, I’ll be toying with the reigns of working on the next novel. I intend to start working on my next one by January. While novel one is being read and edited by others, I’ll be working on novel two (and have first draft done by Late February).
Through all this, I’ll be sharing my progress here. You’ll get a few snipets of the story, hear about the progress, and maybe get to participate in helping with it (via reading).
So, looking forward to the adventure and sharing it with everyone.
